Fischnaller, Kummer win snowboard World Cup races

(AP) ? Roland Fischnaller of Italy and Patrizia Kummer of Switzerland won snowboard World Cup parallel slalom events Saturday to retake the lead in the discipline standings with two races left in the season.

Fischnaller, who also won in Moscow last year, beat Simon Schoch in both runs in the final to claim his fourth title this season. Andreas Prommegger won the small final over Kaspar Fluetsch for third place.

"This was one of my best races in the season," Fischnaller said. "I've put a lot of pressure on myself to get a good result here. The victory was perfect and it's nice to win back the yellow bib I had several times this year."

Fischnaller leads the parallel slalom standings with 5,690 points from nine of 11 races. Prommegger dropped to second, 140 points behind, while Benjamin Karl of Austria has 4,880 points for third.

Kummer edged Julia Dujmovits of Austria by a combined 0.29 seconds to win the women's final ? her fourth victory this season. Julie Zogg of Switzerland finished ahead of Austria's Marion Kreiner for third.

The event was held on a ramp constructed on a square at the Luzhniki sports complex.

"It's so special to compete in the middle of the city," Kummer said. "I still can't believe I've done it."

She leads the women's standings with 5,040 points, followed by Dujmovits, 530 points behind and Kreiner, another 100 points back.

Overall World Cup defending champion Ekaterina Tudegesheva of Russia was eliminated in the first round and dropped from the top to fifth place in the standings.
